Trick or Treat

We took Jack out for his first trick or treating. Last year Jack was only 7 months and we were the only house on our street. This year we thought he was still probably too young to understand what was going on but we had to try anyway. He did awesome!! We went to the houses on base thinking that would be the safest place to go. At first he wasn't too sure of what to do but by the third house or so he was saying "Trick or Treat", "Thank you", "Bye-Bye" and "Woof-Woof" to every house he went to. He especially loved the houses where he got to pick the candy out of the bowl himself and put it in his treat bag. He was practically running to everyone's front door, no matter how scary it looked. He outlasted several older kids we passed on the street. When they were saying "Mom, I am tired lets go home", Jack and Luke were running right by them. The costume even lasted the entire night. It is nice to be somewhere for Halloween where you don't have to worry about them sweating to death. I am a little biased but Jack was the cutest puppy out there. We had a great night!!

For some reason I am drawn to this hydrant

Two For The Price Of One

Yesterday morning Jack woke up with not one new tooth, but TWO! Both of his K-9 teeth on the bottom broke through. He is getting pretty close to having a full set of chompers!

Apparently something at dinner last night was very funny!

Take A Hike

Today was such a nice day out we decided to take advantage and go for a hike up Sandia Peak.

Getting ready to go

We weren't sure how Jack would do sitting still in the back carrier since he is always on the move. As you can see he was so comfortable he fell asleep.

It was nice to get out and enjoy nature for awhile. Who knew rock and cactus could be so pretty.

We started off the hike way down there!

Getting Ready For The Big Day

We started to get ready for Halloween this week. First we got our pumpkins ready. Jack took care of the smaller one while I decorated the bigger one. I figured Jack and sharp utensils to cut a jack-o-latern was not a very good idea so we decided to stick with crayons.

Then it was my turn to decorate my pumpkin. I started to clean it out and realized why as a kid we always let Dad do that job. You can see both our finished products. I have to say....I like Jack's the best! :)

To also get ready for the big day we had Jack try on his puppy costume. When we first bought it he was actually scared of it. But now, not only does he love to wear it, he asks for it and even barks.

Pumpkin Patch

While Craig and Jamie were here we decided to take the boys to the pumpkin patch. We had done the same thing with them last year, but boy things are sure different! Last year we could just prop them up to take their picture, now we had to call in reinforcements to keep them still for two seconds!!

Look what a difference a year makes

The pumpkin patch also had other activities such as a petting zoo, corn maze, and a slide for the big kids :)

Jack and Andy being sweet holding hands. (Yes, that is Jack on a kid leash. One of the many things "I swore I would never do as a Mom"....but boy that kid is fast)

And of course, since we were at a pumpkin patch we went and picked our own pumpkin.

Weekend with the Swiz's

Our good friends Craig, Jamie and Andy, who moved to NM a few months ago came up for a visit. We were sooo excited to see them!! Andy had changed so much since we saw him last, he is such a little man now. He is walking so all the days of Jack running him over are gone :)

Jack was already in bed when they got to our house and we didn't see them put Andy down. The next morning we realized the boys were in the same PJ's.....how cute!

Come on up Andy, I'll mkake room for you.

Rainy Day

Jack and Luke playing in the wagon when Jack decides......

he wants Luke seat....but Luke was still in it!! :)

Tuesday was a pretty rainy day here so we were stuck playing inside all day. Luckily, Jack had his buddy Luke to hang out with.

Up, Up and Away

Here is a picture that one of the booths at the Balloon Fiesta were doing. I just thought I would share because Jack looks so darn cute!

Balloon Fiesta

On Friday morning Jack and I got up bright and early and headed over to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. We wanted to wait until the weekend to go with Brian but the weather forecast called for "very windy" conditions. We figured they wouldn't be able to take off so we headed out without him. It was an absolutely gorgeous day, a perfect day to hot air balloon. Friday was special because it was the "Special Shapes" day, where all the balloons were not the traditional balloon shape. There was a little bit of everything. After they launched we started to look at some of the exhibits. Next thing we know, we turned around and they had also started to launch the traditional hot air balloons. At first there were just a few and within minutes the sky was full of them!! It was an amazing sight! We tried to head back that evening to see the Glowdeo, where they light the balloons at dusk. Unfortunately, the cold front had already started rolling through and they were not able to launch. It doesn't take much not to be able to launch the balloons. So we just checked out the exhibits, the food and the fireworks. It is a good thing we went when we did, they had to cancel the rest of the fiesta launches due to wind.

We Made It!

DAY 1 Here we are stopped at a rest area in Mississippi. We were lucky enough to have a train drive through for Jack.

DAY 2 Here is a picture of Jack trying Daddy's peppered beef jerky. He actually liked it!

DAY 3 A rainbow over New Mexico and Jack taking a quick cat nap

Our temporary home and view of the mountains from our complex

Jack playing at our park

Jack was so tired from playing at the park he fell asleep at the table eating lunch.

Hey there everyone! I wanted to let you know that we made it to Albuquerque and have settled into our apartment. The drive was actually very good. Jack was an absolute angel and the kitties were very quiet as well. Jack did not fuss once in the car and I think that is because he had a birdseye view of the road from the back of Daddy's truck. He was able to see every truck, bus, airplane and train that we drove by. He pointed every one of them out too. We really didn't care too much, as long as it kept him happy. The furnished apartment we rented is nice, it will definitely do the trick for the next few months. Our balcony looks out to a road, airport, and school bus parking area so again Jack is in all his glory! He likes to sit in his wagon on the porch and watch everything go by. We have a park right across the street that we try and visit everyday and base is right around the corner and they have a nice park as well. Brian has started his classes and we enjoy having him home at a decent hour everyday. Our friends Jeremy, Diane and their son Luke, who we playdate back at home with, are here as well and live in the same building so that has been great for the boys.
